Disk Side Effect questions for Dirty Birdy
I specifically put this here instead of in a PM because I have a feeling others would like to know the answer.
Now the questions:
Am I correct in thinking that since the disks are wide and flat instead of concentrated in a small area like the brass spikes for example, the disks spread their weight over a greater area? Would this give a different feel to the overall play when compared to a more centralized side effect like brass spikes which have an identical weight?

Re: Disk Side Effect questions for Dirty Birdy
Well, I'm not db, but my son and I just conducted a aluminum disc vs. brass dome (don't have spikes) test. We got two 54's, put the discs on one and the domes on the other. We made sure that both had the same type of string with the same length. He played with the ones with the brass domes while I played with the one with the discs. Then we switched.
Here are our thoughts
My son: I like the disks better. The domes are more chunky and heavy. It's harder to move the yoyo around, so my tricks are kind of in chunks.
Me: I feel the same way. The domes land with a bit of a thunk at the end of tricks. The disks don't have this as much, so it was easier to make smooth transitions from trick to trick. I also prefer the discs. I don't play very fast, so the disks slow things down for me a little bit, but I can still make my combos look smooth (well, smooth for my skill level).

I'm happy to elaborate, nut I'm surprised that someone like you would ask simple yes/no questions without including such probing words as "why" or "how"! Bigkat and son's impressions are spot on with regards to what the physics will tell you. If you go back to my .pdf file report about small versus large bearing (thread here) I include brief discussion on the distribution of mass and it's effect on inertia, I'll come back later today and elaborate with a more focused discussion specific to Side Effects, but in the meantime brush up on the info in my previous lecture! db

Please forgive me Prof. Birdy I committed the cardinal sin of teaching, I asked closed ended questions. All I can say is I am on Spring Break and have lost my head for a moment. Will not happen again.

In my opinion, they look nice, they're different, and they provide a different feel compared to other side effects. If people don't like it, that's okay too. Fortunately for them, the discs are not built into the yoyo, so they don't ever need to use them. For those people that do like them, they come with the added benefit of being able to be placed in any other yoyo that accepts SE as well. Looks like everyone is a winner!

Yea, I like them, it looks really cool. They appear to make my 54 feel a tad more stable, could just me trying to feel out a difference, but they do play heavier than the other aluminum SE. I love having more options for side effects, and now there is a heavy SE that can be anodized, that's one benefit right there.

You already expressed you do not like them. If you are here to cause trouble it will not fly. If you have a customer service issue email us onedropdesign@gmail.com

Re: Disk Side Effect questions for Dirty Birdy
yeah dude, if you don't like disc side effects, keep it to yourself. There's no need to tell us that you do not like them, for, quite frankly, nobody cares! If you don't have anything positive to say, BE QUIET
Seriously though, no need to just complain.

This is the concept of freedom that you have them?? in any other part of the civilized world can express their ideas and do not affect the others are ignored. not here! you delete posts and topics, everything is being done to shut up those who do not think as it suits you. but where we are in germany in 1940?? you make me worth! I am not a member of this forum for long but i have noticed that you just act like you make this threads on purpose for flaming, raging and subjective opinions....If u have anything to say than say it openly, because you are pushing it hard, and u are acting like child that does not want to let other think otherwise. And the racism thing ....so blah ..... !!! And DSE are cosmetics thing if you dont like them then dont say they are bad .If you read SE's thread you will notice that is made so you can find one that is made for you but you are obviously hard person to serve...

This is a private owned forum, not a country We can have any rules we want. However, we not only tolerate but encourage the expression of different ideas, opinions, brands and web sites. We arguably have the most free yoyo forum. If you would have bothered to read through this forum to get a sense of how we interact and how open to respecful feedback we are you would have had a better idea of how to conduct yourself. I think basic respect is obvious, but it seems to be a difficult topic for you. What you are not getting is that you are being moderated for LACK OF RESPECT, not for the specifics of your content. In our history we have only had to ban one person. If you continue, you will be number 2. If you disagree and think you are not being disrespectful then there is nothing left to say. I am giving you one more chance to chill out, although I suspect you arrived with an agenda and will not change your ways.
