Spiral Spike? Like...a drill? That would be pretty awesome.

Yeh, "Nautilus Spikes" would be rad, anyone with CAD drawing skills want to work with me to mock one up and we can post it in the "what would you like to see from OneDrop" thread?

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
What about a "stepped" spike that is a bit longer and a bit heavier? And I was thinking, what about having the Fibonacci spiral as a laser art on the yoyo?

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
There's a few things I've been considering proposing to you all - a Nautilus shell, the Finbonacci curve, and the Argo Navis constellation - though this latter might be complicated and best kept for a small, special run or something, if it's possible. The Fibonacci spiral has a number of positives, including that it resonates with some of the minimalism that is part of what I like about and associate with One Drop's designs. Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
Ok, well this is what i came up with. Im thinking just a spiraled spike, kinda like soft serve icecream has ridges going up to the tip, kinda like that only smaller and without the "swoosh" at the top lol. The idea is that the ridges could be either rounded outward or beveled into the side effect. if you were to look downward at the spike it might resemble the cross section of a nautilus, only more perfected and symetrical. Again, this is just an idea and excuse my rough paint sketch , i think you get the idea. Its my impression that the number of "ridges" could be adjusted to ensure symmetry. but im no engineer. I have DB possibly helping me make this into a rendering if he deems it possible. Again, the real thing would look MUCH better than my paint drawing.

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
Well, I have been informed that this design would be just too complicated to be produced, it was a novel thought anyway

I'm most likely going to be making these at some point. By hand of course, but still. I love the design and think they are just awesome. Though I think they should be a bit bigger.

It's definitely a very cool idea!

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
Since natural things like the nautilus shell are said to use the golden spiral (which they don't really, but close enough), I took this image of the golden spiral, overlaid curves where they meet a certain horizontal line... you know what, it's ridiculous to try and explain this. Look: So there's a couple ways to make the hub. Either way, they don't make you think "nautilus shell," but they're both kinda mathematically derived from the spiral we associate with it. Hope that makes sense. Also, this isn't really meant to be a serious suggestion.

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
I think that the design for these SEs should be an actual Nautilus shell, which by coincidence, corresponds with clifton's and RebelThrow's design. The spiral, and the Nautilus feel.

I love you blue rendering clifton, that would be a groovy side effect.

I did a terrible job of describing what I was going for up there. I hope it makes sense.

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
Just for kicks, you should try a rendering like the blue one, but beef the bottom layer up a tad, and make each ring a stack upwards leaving the divited top the same. Does that make any sense? clifton wrote: I did a terrible job of describing what I was going for up there. I hope it makes sense.

Re: CODE2 Prototype Process (see inside for details)
Just updated the trajectories of each with a tentative order. To all of you who haven't had the chance to try a CODE2 - thanks for your patience. I know it's been a long wait.

I'm hoping to receive the Code 2 in the mail in the next couple of days, can't wait to add to the legacy.
