Post IT'S A MADHOUSE(5150 that is) [moved from other forums]
just thought I would move this here. I really want to get the word out about this yoyo. Currently available only in SE from www.yoyoguy.com

Alright. It is coming out in a few days. (Friday to be exact) You have heard a few reviews about it, so I am just here to offer my personal opinion.

Let me start out by saying, I am very suspicious of new yoyo companies. Not because I love the others so much, It is just that I know I am likely to get a quality product from some of the other stores that consistently put out new yoyos that are extremely good. And since I am an unemployed college student, dropping $100 on a yoyo that I am not sure whether it is going to be good or not is not normally an option. But when one of my friends said, hey, try this, I knew that I would have to get one.

Looks

Well, lets start with the packaging. (I blurred out the name of who it was prescribed to since this will be posted on multiple boards)

It comes in a container that looks like a pill prescription bottle. Very cool idea. I wonder if all future Madhouse yoyos will come in this bottle. If that is the case, judging by the way this one plays, my parents are going to think I am a drug addict with all the pill bottles lying around my room. But back to the looks. The bottle comes in either red or blue, depending on what colors you purchase. I bought the red/white (or if you prefer to call it silver) so mine came in the red container. You open it up, and there it is, in a nice foam package, your new main player. Included with the yoyo is a NFS custom string and a cool button with the Madhouse logo on it.

I personally liked the look of the red silver one. Brown really isn't my color. But I may trade halves with someone and get a red blue one. The only thing I personally didn't like was on the pill bottle. I didn't like the writing of who it was prescribed to as the company it was shipped to. Yes, it would be too much of a hassle to personally print out every person's label, but maybe make it more generic, something like "For use only with the most serious yoyoers" Or something like that. Idk, just me personally.

Size and shape

It is a kind of relaxed A shape. It has just a tad more slant then a full blown A shaped yoyo. It is about the size of a BvM. The thumb grind lip is very sharp, which I didn't think I would like, but it actually surprised me.

Play

One word, three letters. OMG. As I said, I am very cautious when first yoyos come out from a new company, but this one blew away all my expectations. It comes unresponsive out of the package. I have not tried the NFS string on it just yet, and I just put on a poly. Excellent sleep times, excellent balance. It feels weighty in my hand, and the I can feel it on the string. (I don't know if you know what I mean by that, but it is just a sense that I have) Consistently on each throw it has little to no vibe, and tight binds. It just seems to do exactly what I want it to do. It feels comfortable in my hand when throwing and catching it. The only thing that was a slight disappointment was that I like to do a lot of finger grinds, but I like the yoyo to stay in place, not crawl across my arm. Its coating is not smooth enough to do that. But in this situation, the pro's outweigh the cons. The thumbgrind lip, as I said, is at a very sharp angle. There is no rounding to it. I did not expect to like this very much, because I have short nails, and sharp lips normally slide in my thumb until my skin makes contact with the inner wall. But that does not happen here. It seems that the mad men at Madhouse figured out the perfect angle for this not to happen. All in all, I love this yoyo.

Conclusion

This yoyo is a gem. It probably wont sell out as quickly as it should. It should be on everyone's want list. Two words: Get it.

Pros

Great weight
Very well balanced
Excellent binds

Cons

Coating a little sticky, not so good for stationary finger grinds.

Sorry, but I'm not impressed. The packaging is the best I have ever seen, but that's not why I buy yoyos. It looks okay, but seems way to light. I have heard from people that have them that this is the case indeed.

Like I said, I'm sure it is nice. However, if I wanted to throw a 52mm yoyo, I would throw my 5-Star. That is no slight to the 5150 though.

I am sure you have heard this 100 times, but....

It plays a lot heavier than it is. I normally only throw heavy yoyos. (Before I got this, It was GM2 and Superstar that I threw). But the 5150 plays on par with those. But to each their own.
