 Re: Side Effects (tm)
So, you've heard all about the many wonderful things that Side Effects™ is going to do for you and your yoyos. But what One Drop didn't tell you about is that Side Effects™ has many other useful functions not even related to yoyos. For example Drawer Pills for Shawnessy, allowing him to change his furniture decor on a minute's notice. He could use Matador Spikes in case the Dwarf Motorcycle Gang drops by unannounced, or quickly swap to the buttondown look of the flat Side Effects™ when his stock broker comes calling. I'm sure you can all come up with even more applications. We've been playing with Side Effects™ technology here in Area 51 to explore the more extreme side of potential applications. The favorite one of the staff is pictured below. Bet you didn't know Side Effects™ could do that! db

Mmm, all that brass makes me imagine the next onedrop yoyo will be a pure brass yoyo.

Cool!
Press fit? I found the nuts on my M1 to sit very VERY tight. Replaceable - yes, but "easily replaceable" - no for sure.

 Re: Side Effects (tm)
Another question. Will we see Side Effects that will accommodate A-Sized and D-Sized bearings? I know that quite a few people have wanted a small bearing One Drop and I could see this being a great way to satisfy their demands.

No, but they are press fit. These can't be press fit if they are also meant to be interchangeable. Right?

-Chris The only part of the bearing area that is in the Side Effect is the post. For a different size bearing all the other parts need to be different (seat, OD). So yeah it's not possible to do with Side Effects. We'd have to change the body of yo-yo for that.

I am just seeing it possibly turning forever and never coming apart- with all the knots I throw that would be maddening! That's actaully a really good point I'd like to know as well. It uses the same principle as a Morse Taper. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_taperhttp://www.totaljoints.info/Mechanics_Morse_taper.htmApplying this idea to the yo-yo is our innovation. It locks the nut, it perfectly centers the nut and you can get the nut out easily and repeatably. No need to worry how it works though - it just does But if you're interested read the links above.

 Re: Side Effects (tm)
I am going to be headed to Portland in a couple of weeks and I might be coming over for a visit with some cash for that 54 there... It will be really sweet!
Also, will the Side Effects be sold separate or will come with the yoyo?
