Well, currently, I take a picture with my phone and email it to myself. I then hop on my computer and download the picture and upload it through the picture uploader on the forum. I'm just wondering if I could do everything without the computer. Take the picture and put it on the forum via my phone only. It seems to work for other people, I just can't figure it out. I figure that Instagram has a publicly accessible hosting site like Flickr but when I go to its site on my phone, it only allows me to change my settings, not view my pictures (to put their links in my posts).
Hope that made sense, it's been a hellishly long Black Friday.
I think I understand a little more clearly. Unfortunately, I don't have a super simple answer, and I'm not sure how other people do it, but I do have a workaround.
The key is finding the actual image url. You can find a link to a page that contains your image if you click on "copy share link" underneath a posted image of yours, but again, that only gives you an image to a sort of splash page which contains other content as well. There may be other way to get this link, but the following will work:
1. Visit web.stagram.com/n/*username* (where *username* is your instagram username). At this point, you'll be able to see your photo stream.
2. Directly above each image in the top right hand corner are 4 letters, the first 3 of which correspond to the size of the image (tiny, medium, large). Click on the 'L' (or whichever size you want).
3. You should now be at a page that only contains the image and at this point you can press and hold on the url > Select All > Copy.
4. Come to the forum, click IMG, and then paste.
If you use this method, it would probably be wise to bookmark the address used for step 1.
Let me know if this works for you. Also, maybe thatchmaster can comment, as I know he posts from Instagram often.
