I've been told that using flow-able silicone in the M1 is possible but has anyone here done it? If so how did it work out for you?

i have my m1 siliconed right now. i really really like it!!! plays kinda like when it had the stock sili pads in.
took me a while to do a good sili job, but on the third or forth try, using a spoon to smooth it out, i finally got it right! it's plays really well with it!

Yep M1s were made to be able to take flow-able silicone.

However, we are currently working on putting out a silicone grooved M1 as well. We'll offer you the choice. Perhaps even the choice of a different response on each half ....

I put sili in my M1, first it was the clear stuff YYN sell. That didn't last too long, like 2 weeks and that was a pretty good sili job I did for being the first time. It just kinda ripped apart near the bearing seat. Then, I tried the orangy red stuff that was recommended to me by someone, It's been good so far, but the bad job I did is showing so it's probly not gonna last long. the red stuff is difficult to say the least.

In my personal experience, when I scratch up the inside of a recess with the edge of some some folded semi-coarse sand paper or even a pin, clean the recess out and then silicone it, I have yet to have the silicone rip out on me.

The reason is that the scratches give the silicone more surface area to stick to when it fills and sticks to the little grooves. I did this to my peak and I almost regret it because it is nearly impossible to rip out the silicone to put in some fresh stuff. I have also done the same to my internal turmoil after the silicone came out and caused it to surprise bind and almost bust my nose. The silicone has not come out since. The same goes for my first run G5.

I hate when my yo-yos are damaged in even the slightest way, but the response recess is an exception for me because it makes my pretties require less maintenance and less likely to smash my face.

Doesn't the MM have the same recess? I put flowable in my MM, and it came out after a bit. I cleaned the recess area before hand, but I guess it didn't help. Maybe a slightly deeper recess would help.

Heck I have not even killed the stock pads yet!
It took a few days of throwing regen traps to break in the pads to complete unresponivness and now it does not look like it will die anytime soon.
I can wait. Also I only use red rtv when I do it, much better than the clear stuff. MO

I would love to know the results! How long will you conduct tests? A few weeks? It took about that long for mine to fall out.

Can you compare it to the play of the original M1 with a cleaned bearing. With a clean bearing, my M1 is pretty much completely unresponsive and gives very tight binds, with minimal slippage. How does this compare to the sili M1?

It can be made to play exactly like an M1 with sticker response. The main difference is that, unlike with stickers, you can control how much silicone you put in the groove. Leave it well below the surface for unresponsive or fill it all the way up for responsive. Add to that the wide variety of silicone types...
