 CafeRacer
CafeRacer One Drop started the affordable metal revolution and now we are taking it to the next level with the CafeRacer. We once again show that quality and performance can be attained with American manufacturing. Named after the British movement of the 60's to modify motorcycles for speed and performance, the CafeRacer brings nimble and stable play to the undersized realm. It features a large angled catch zone and feels comfortable in the hand. MSRP: $60 Weight: 64 grams Width: 38.9mm Diameter: 50.4mm Axle System: Tapped Stock Response: Flow Groove Gap Width: 4.06mm Bearing Size: Large (C) stainless steel (One Drop Value Bearing) Finish: Pyrmatte (tm)

 Re: CafeRacer
what exactly is a one drop value bearing? is it lower in quality to the 10-ball being sold at the shop?

I think Chris (saintrobyn) put it best: "The budget bearings are an 8-Ball bearing that is manufactured by the same company that makes the 10-Ball bearings found in One Drop’s higher end models. They play just as well as a 10-Ball but cost One Drop significantly less to purchase." http://www.highspeedyoyo.com/2011/07/28 ... mment-4190As an aside: that's an interesting first post. Welcome to the forum!

(just in case i happen to buy one!) Welcome to the One Drop community and thanks for the love towards High Speed YoYo. As for your research about the CafeRacer, trust me you want to pick one up. At $60 it should be in everyone's collection.

 Re: CafeRacer
I just got blue-green Cafe Racer for x-mas. I love it, but I'm a yoyo newb. I went out and bought some high speed lube from an RC Racecar hobby shop, and lubed up my bearing very heavily. I was basically just trying to reduce the noise. I think it ended up greatly increasing the responsiveness. I'm not too sensitive, as my last yoyo was a Yomega Fireball, but I can still tell.
Are they sold "dry" for better performance (less responsive, longer spin, etc.)? Is a little oil good, even if you want to keep the yoyo pretty unresponsive?
As I said, I'm new, so its all part of the learning experience for me. I'll probably pick up a new 10ball bearing and compare it to the lubed up one. Also, my fiancee has an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner I could use to clean out the oil from the value bearing if I want.
Thanks for the great yoyo, and all the resources. I'll be delving deep to learn more. I'm in Monmouth Oregon, and I'm not sure if there is a yoyo community in the area (maybe Salem), but I might stop by your shop in Eugene to pick up a new bearing and strings. My brother lives there, and if I'm in town for New Year's it may be convenient.
Thanks again, Zanthir

Thanks again, Zanthir Congrats on your CafeRacer! I love this yoyo and I think it's a great yoyo to have in the collection. It's really great for carrying, it can play slow or fast, and it's not a $120 yoyo that you are worried about dinging all up. You can own 2 of them for that price. The bearings are shipped with a little bit of lube but are sent that way from the bearing manufacturer to OneDrop. Most people don't like a lot of lube because it will make the bearing responsive. However, the amount of responsiveness you are seeing might have something to do with the type of lube you're using also. OneDrop sells some lube (V4M) that I would recommend picking up when you stop by the shop. You should definitely stop by and see them if you are in town. They love visitors and you'll get a chance to see what the operation is like. You're lucky to only be an hour away.
