*THE WINNER!* Code2 Entry - Rendition Updated 10/8
Here's an initial sketch. Diameter - 56mm Width - 44mm Gap - 4.7mm Base weight - 64.1g Weight with aluminum spikes - 67.3 The rationale - I'd like to see the One Drop boys put out something big and wide that's all catch zone and geared specifically for performance, including 5a and horizontal play, but that's still comfortable to hold, has a solid IRG; something that integrates the side effect technology and starts with a higher base weight than has thus far been available with side effect yoyos, putting as much of that added weight at the rims as possible. Unfortunately, my computer is an old Mac iBook G4 (I hang onto things as long as I can keep them functional ). I've searched high and low for a free CAD program that my computer can support, and have come up with nothing. If at all possible, I'll come up with CAD images of this asap. A big thanks to Chris Rhoads for illustrating this for me. Very minor tweaks aside, this is it: Here's one more rendition from Chris again. Can't thank you enough Chris!

 Re: Code2 Entry
That looks real good. I wonder, however, if making it a few grams lighter might benefit it.

 Re: Code2 Entry
I'm adding some Illustrator images that Chris Rhoads did up for me. Thanks so much Chris!
p.s. I've been trying to reduce the size of the pics in Photobucket and for some reason it keeps cropping them. Can a moderator perhaps use some magic code to help me out?

Re: Code2 Entry - Illustrator images added!
Wow!
I really liked your original drawing, but your vision is much easier to see now that its fully modeled. The specs fall directly in my "perfect" zone (and I'm sure many others). Good work!

Re: Code2 Entry - Illustrator images added!
@nkessler - Thanks! I'm actually thinking that the gentle H-ness I was shooting for needs to be more pronounced. But I think this looks pretty wicked. @yomartyo - Part of my aim with this was to create a side-effect yoyo that shifte the weight toward the heavier end of the spectrum. I'm finding myself almost always going with the brass spikes in my 54 and CODE1, and I'd like something that replicated that 67-68gram feel with more of the weight at the rims, and with the option of going heavier overall. Thanks for the comments!

Re: Code2 Entry - Illustrator images added!
Added some updated images that incorporated my thinking it needed to be a smidge more h-ish. Big thanks again to Chris! He even added the side effect holes! Regardless of whether anything comes of this, it was awesome to get to see one of my ideas take shape!

Looks great man. I know what I am voting for if my entry doesn't make it to the next round.

Re: Code2 Entry - Revamped images
Thanks guys! I already told you, but I think your design is totally baller, Chris, and it's something I'd love to own a version of. Bummer they can't do more than one. Or can they? Aren't these OD fellas swimming in lathes these days?

Aren't these OD fellas swimming in lathes these days? Of course I don't know if any of what I'm about to say is true, but we've had a CODE1. Now, we're in the middle (or slightly short of the middle) of the CODE2. It seems as if there will be a CODE3. I LOVE what One Drop is doing right now. They're still producing internally designed yoyos (Dietz), but they're also letting the community make their own products. Its a bit like those websites that allow you to upload a picture of whatever you want and buy shirts/coffee mugs/stickers with the same image on them. Of course, the guys at One Drop make it a lot more fun and interesting. Hopefully this trend will continue. The whole community has been coming together on these ideas and great things are coming of it. @ jrodriguez: I like your design even more now that it has a more pronounced H shape. It looks like it'll be extremely comfortable, but still smooth and stable. The weight seems like it'll be perfect, too. It can be made lighter, but focuses on the medium/heavy end of the spectrum. I'm glad the base weight doesn't clock in at anything over 68g, but I know I'll be throwing mine (if and when) with some Brass Spikes installed

For some reason your initial sketch of the rims reminded me of this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... 80&bih=709

My first response was, "What the hell is he talking about?" But when I went back and looked at the sketch - yeah. I see what you mean.

Re: Code2 Entry - Revamped images
I've thought a lot about this design and am thinking some of the One Drop grooves - like those on the Y-Factor, CODE1, etc. - would really give this design an OD feel. Plus, I love the way those grooves handle finger grinds. I realize that if this is picked there will be alterations made according to input from the community, but thought I'd go ahead and throw this idea out there. Also, if we're advocating for our designs at this phase I should go ahead mention that this yoyo, if produced, will grant each owner three wishes, and make your dreams come true.

Re: Code2 Entry - Revamped images
Thanks! Three wishes is pretty hard to pass up. I'm excited about a bunch of the entries and I'd like to say again that it's ridiculously awesome of One Drop to do this!

Re: Code2 Entry - Revamped images
Thanks mate! Regardless of whether my design gets made or not, it's been very cool to see some of the creativity the community brought to the table in response to this opportunity that David and Shawn provided.
