CODE2 - Quintessence / Final Design Is Complete! Specs Up!
I've been following alot of CODE2 submissions and have found one thing that surprised me - there haven't been any submissions like the essence from General-Yo. So, I set out to combine some of OD's popular throws and made what I believe takes some of the greatest parts from their yoyos. We'll start with what I used as references. Rims of the Y-Factor Catch Zone of the Sovereign Hub of the Sovereign CODE1 Rims 54's Diameter Dietz' weight Flowgroove and C bearing Alright, so let's get this started MY SOLIDWORKS RAN OUT, SO I AM UNABLE TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE YOYO. HOWEVER, I HAVE SOME THINGS I WILL BE DOING TO IT.
FINAL SPECS: Diameter: 54mm 42.2mm Weight w/ Fat Daddies: 66g Bearing: C Response: Flow Groove
alright, so here, you can kind of get a feel of what I was going for. I used a similar way of building the yoyo as Ernie did with the essence, and I felt it was accomplished making it look like I wanted I'm a huge fan of the CODE 1, so the rims were necessary haha. The others, I just took what was some of their more popular designs (minus the P2, which I have a special idea for that ) Anyway, I also liked the idea of a slightly lighter yoyo, using the Dietz in mind, which the design I used for the SE's allow a 3.1g weight to be added, which in turn, can be switched out for the heavier options of course Now, the SE's I've designed I decided to call.... Fat Daddies As you can see in both pictures, they protrude out more than most SE's, which I thought earned them that name They are aluminum and weigh 3.1g when put together That is a nice medium for SE's I think, and it adds wanted weight while still being a lighter choice. Alright, so back to what I said was the "special purpose" of not using the P2. The main reason was the grooves. I wasn't sure if people would want them in the catch zone mainly because I thought it may look too much like the Y-Factor from the outer profile. However, I didn't really know if they'd be wanted or not, so I'm leaving it up to the community as well Rim Grooves (Only top rim, not face), Rim Face Grooves (Similar to Septopus, but just OD style ), or Catch Zone Grooves. And of course, No Grooves at all. Alright, so for the last thing before I let you go, I figured I'd show you 3 stickers I made. Now, I really like 2 of them, and more will some soon Anyway, here you go Hope you enjoyed If you have any suggestions or comments, PLEASE let me know Alright Guys, this is it. The design is final now, so all we can do is wait Also, if you have any last minute Sticker Ideas, that would be amazing

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
The idea looks great.
One thing about the case, and I guess this would go for Clifton's as well. If you have a side effect enabled yo-yo, why do you need a spare axle. The axles are Locktite glued into one of the Side Effects, they aren't coming loose easily. It would be better off just getting a new set of side effects.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
I like this one too. Have to admit, seeing a box full of spare parts made me think of a certain other submission. But that's the beauty of a community project.
I think including all of the current Side Effects hubs would drive the price of this way up, but having a couple wouldn't be a terrible idea.
I do like the shape of this one, and I like that you've integrated so many other OD throws into one.
Regarding saintrobyn's question, the First Aid Kit idea was to be universally helpful for most players. But yes, when it comes to Side Effects-equipped models, an extra axle is pretty pointless. Not completely, but just pointless enough to seem silly including with the CODE2.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
I also have to say I can't believe so few of these threads actually include a poll. So kudos for that one.
By "Rim face grooves," do you mean the flat part of the rims, on the side of the yo-yo where the name's usually engraved? I was thinking of something like that too, but haven't gotten around to discussing it.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
Its like where the grooves of a septopus are. Should I add cup grooves? also, on the note of SE's, I didn't know that, so thanks for telling me

Oh, nice, I'd never seen the Septopus before, or any throw with ridges there. That's a great idea.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
I really like this design. I'd like to see the weight bumped up a bit as well.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
My Solidworks ran out from what I know. However, I am posting changes to the weight that I will explain. If I still have SW, I will work on it As of right now, I'm going for a 2-3g increase to 64-65g.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
I don't like the idea of a big box coming with it with strings and se's and bearings and such. It was tried out on the Catch 22 and I just don't like the idea of having that much stuff just for 1 yoyo. Not to mention the price the whole packaged deal would fetch would be higher for things you may never use, i.e some of the side effects and the bearing. other than that I like the yoyo, seems solid.

Yeah, that's what Phase 2 is about. Maybe a special edition with that kind of stuff? Like, a Ni plated one w/ black SE's or something along those lines.

 Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence
Alright Guys, now's the time to post ideas for tweaks and such I know evaluation is still going on, but I want feedback. As of right now, I have planned: Weight Change to 65g w/ Fat Daddies Case changed to have a few extra sets of SE's, string, lube, etc.. but no axle Case will only be used in a special edition of some sort, if used at all, to maintain price. Catch Zone grooves are the winners for Groove Choice

Re: CODE2 Entry #2 - Quintessence/ New Poll Up! Pick the Wei
Okay, New poll's up! Give me every opinion on your mind! Also, The Case is being removed for now. I'll leave it up, but unless David wants to use it in some way, It's not going to be used. Stickers and such will still be included of course
