 Re: CODE2: Revealed
I've always wanted a RooYo-style golf ball divot-covered yo-yo. Just because.

 Re: CODE2: Revealed
Sort of wondering if my dream idea is even worth drawing up. It would have pretty limited appeal, since only those with very large hands would even be able grasp it.
Guess I'll try to whip something up, if only in the spirit of contributing.

Acavando wrote: Itd be cool if it was delrin :3 that would be AWESOME! but that would require some kind of metal housing, but still if possible, i would like to see it. I would think the code2 should be "square" meaning exact same width and diameter, also a good chunk of it's weight should be at the rims. IMO

I've been researching hard for the CODE2...MAN! Designing yoyos are hard! My respect for OneDrop goes up even more...

 Re: CODE2: Revealed
I have been toying around with lots of Yo-yo ideas for a while and this looks like a good oppotunity to share those ideas...I guess I'd give it a shot. Since the first part requires me to enstablish a vision, I'm probably gonna be typing this out more than actually drawing them out... The first concept I envisioned was a yo-yo which can be set-up for whatever feel a player would desire, which is similar to what Side effects have acheived, but I intend to take it to a higher level. Other than tweaking the centre weight through interchangable hubs, I also envision removable rims of differing shape and materials. This not only provide an even greater degree of customization, but it also allows the user to tweak even the dimensions of the yo-yo they desire, whether they wish to increase the width/diameter etc. I think given the proven success of the side effects an interchangable rim system shouldn't be too far off. (p.s. plus this will be a boon for the freehand/accident prone players as dings and scruffs from regular playing can be remedied by replacing or repairing the rims) The second concept is something I'd recently begun exploring which was insipred by the Genesis/Yuuksta, where I tried to merge a H-shape together with a rounded V-shape. The idea was to give the stability of a h-shape configuration while keeping the advantages of a v-shaped yo-yo. I have a concept design here. Isn't perfect, but it's a good representation of what my vision is. Well, that's all I have for now. Any comments or opinions will be appreciated!

Looks good We haven't officially started taking applications so be sure to repost this when we have everything set up. On the replaceable rim idea, it is definitely one that many people have had. The trick is finding a way to executing it while still maintaining the high standards of balance that are required these days. The Werrd Split Decision is one such attempt.

That's a really nice looking design. A bit big for me I preffer the 53mm diameters but at the moment full sized is where everyone seems to be looking for their yoyos.

That design looks a lot like a Gnosis. It's really hard to come up with something really unique nowadays....

That's where he got his inspiration, the rims seem more rounded than a genesis. But I agree that it's difficult to come up with a new design that's original, I don't know how companies manage to come up with so many unique designs

He's got a few prototypes floating around and they look pretty neat. YoYoFactoryben actually made some vague references to there being a possible lawsuit over the name, but "Gnosis" sounds like "no-sis", not "Ge-no-sis" or "Ga-no-sis". Victorkaxxx's design looks a bit like the Gnosis, but the gap and catch zone have some very noticeable differences, so I'm sure there won't be a problem. Actually, I really like the way victorkaxxx's design looks.

^yeah, I was referring to Titanium221's Gnosis. Thanks for clearing that up.
I forgot to mention, victorkaxxx's design looks pretty sweet!
Now let's see if I can learn how to use a 3d software before OneDrop starts accepting applications...

I should have worded my post a bit less aggressively. I'm pretty sure the Gnosis design is contained in one thread on page 2 of some section of YYN, so it'd be really hard to find anything out about it anyways. The design is really solid, though. I think Titanium221 should publicize it a bit more. Regardless, Victorkaxxx's yoyo looks quite a bit different and (in my opinion) draws a lot more from the Genesis than from the Gnosis.

 Re: CODE2: Revealed
Is there a way to cut polygon shaped parts? For example, a side effect that has a pentagon head?
And do you guys at OneDrop have the machine to do it?

Thanks for the comments, guys Ronin Remnant wrote: That's a really nice looking design. I'm Asian so my hands are smaller and anything slightly undersized works for me. But I was going for an all out "Massive" Design to fit the VDoP monkier, which stands for "Vulgar Display of Power" after that Pantera album. Now let's see if I can learn how to use a 3d software before OneDrop starts accepting applications... May I suggest trying out emachineshop.com. They have a free CAD program I find very intuitive to use for beginners.

And do you guys at OneDrop have the machine to do it? One Drop does have milling machines which are capable of doing this. Just look at the nut capture design of the original Project or P2 if you're not familiar with them... db
