As far as collaborations, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I want a side-effect enabled ILYY Fury, or a Candy Blasted 54. I'll take either, but get something going already!

If you really think YYF is getting a pass, consult either of the parties involved. This kind of speculation will honestly never succeed at doing anything, but irritate both the for-YYF and against-YYF One Drop readers.

As far as where the yoyos are made, you can choose to buy YYF yoyos that are made in the USA.

CASCADE?!

From a customer standpoint, it seems like YYF is doing us a solid by behaving more like big business fatcats rather than cooperative members of a creative community. By stomping on other companies' turf, they effectively open the doors for others to do the same, who take the attitude of "we'll if those assholes are doing it!" Before long, it's literally an Everybody's Doing It situation, and even such principled companies as OD can explore those fertile prairies without stepping on toes.

Would CLYW still be the only company offering splash-anno'd yoyos if YYF hadn't started doing it? Would small, well-respected companies like Xcube and Chico have risked their good reputations by releasing muffintop-inspired throws if YYF hadn't first? And would it honestly be preferable if the Avant/Zeus/Recurve simply didn't exist, to preserve the purity of one man's unique (as in, only one exists) creation?

After all, it's hard to move a story forward without a good villain.

I do realize there's a flip side to that coin. For one thing, this sort of behavior has a homogenizing effect. Rather than having a bunch of companies that all have their own distinct quirks and unique visual signifiers, designs tend to bleed together and the yoyo world becomes samey as a result. It's like a strange alternate reality where Walmart can't quite crush mom-n-pop stores, but rather the mom-n-pops adapt by becoming miniature clones of Walmart.

I dunno, just some food for thought. Specifically, garlic fries.

Its not about preserving unique designing characteristics of a single person.
It's about RESPECT. Period. And YYF most notably Ben has none.
I seriously doubt that they would be held to such scrutiny if they hadn't proved themselves time and time again as pompous, greedy, Jerks. They pretend to be about "community" when all they are really about is the dollar signs in front of their noses.
They've been known to threaten lawsuits over any and every tiny little thing that they think they have rights to. Such as the "G" in G squared and other rediculous things.
So why wouldn't we as consumers call them out on blatant plagarism like this?
Why wouldn't we hold them to the same scrutiny that they hold everyone else?
It's just hypocrisy, and hypocrites deserved to be called out in front of everyone.

And David, when are you gonna post a thread about the Cascade??

I was going to say, "Drew Tetz has a video using a Cascade?!" but eh, Yuuki, he's good. I'm joking, Yuuki is great, but is he even with YYF still? Who knows these days. Thanks for linking the vid, Young Beezy.

That's the 2nd Yuuki video I've seen where he's using a OD and makes sure to say so in the video. I believe it was a Markmont.Next last time.

I'm just here for the circle jerk.....

but seriously. if Chris over at the lodge has any reason to be angry it's because his "signature" design element (can it really be a signature design element after two throws? i hope it doesn't stick too long I personally don't dig the look of it. it's so unnatural. anyway) inspired this hideous thing.
I'll award a point to the lodge for being able to bounce back from this obscenity.
I'll also take two points away from the factory for thinking this was a good idea. which it isn't for several reasons. they're already losing tons of cred from all the shit they've caught lately over over-inspired throws. then you do this? they're securing there place in a hole where their only targets left are children. now let me say something before I say this next thing to prepare you for it because it might be a little shocking. I like yyf yoyos. I also buy cheap off brand cereal. do I like it as much as the premium top shelf cereal? hell no. does it replace the top shelf? certainly not. but it'll do. I also like Duncan yoyos. and yomega...not so much. but I think we all can agree on that, am I right ;)
anyway here's the shocker
yyf has already joined the likes of Duncan and that other old company in which they are even in some walmarts HA! anyway I see these companies as primarily aimed at children, people buying their first yoyo or a nostalgia yoyo and hardcore fanboys. only because people who have been in the game for a long time, or even more than 20 seconds, knows there's better stuff out there. I don't think companies like one drop or the lodge should be worried about losing a customer or any part of their customer base because of an atrocity yyf came up(?) with.
when it gets to the point where Ben is sneaking around the Canadian boonies in a ninja suit looking for the latest top secret design so he can nab it, then we can start to worry. and press charges ;)
