 Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
Im getting a new yoyo for christmas but i dont know what to get! I WOULLD APRECIATE IF THE PEOPLE THAT REPLY ARE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD BOTH YOYOS! sO THEN THEY CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE. Also, If i were to get a dark magic, i would replace the bearing with a KK,,, so do with that what you will........ WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
Ok, lets break it down a little bit.
1) There is no "better" between the two. Both are great yo-yos in their own right. The Dingo is hands down, the best pocket yo-yo on the market today. Very compact and very fun to play. Down side, it is SMALL. The Dark Magic is a phenomenal full sized yo-yo.
2) Don't wast the money on the KK bearing. They are a gimmick and can sometimes have a detrimental effect on your play. Stick with the flat bearing that comes with the DM, or better yet take the money you were going to spend on a KK and buy two 10-Ball bearings, just to have a backup.
3) This is all going to fall to what your feel comfortable with and where you think your skill level is at. The Dingo is a small yo-yo and will be unforgiving if you are newer to throwing. The Dark Magic is the more intermediate friendly yo-yo. The up side to the Dingo is going to be that once you master it all the bigger yo-yos are going to feel easy when it comes to catching and learning new tricks. People said the same thing about the One Drop M1 and the Dingo is smaller than the M1. My first metal was an M1 and it forced me to become a better player. It is a shame that the M1 as been retired because i would recommend everyone start with one and move up from there.
Hope this helps out.
-Chris

-Chris I totally agree with you Chris. There is definitely a big size difference. It's almost a bit hard to compare the two for that reason.....it's going to depend on if you want a full size or a pocket throw. For me personally, I prefer the Dingo or rather One Drop throws. I've had a Dark Magic w/ KonKave Bearing before, didn't care much for it because it's beefy (full size throw) size so I ended up selling it. It just didn't feel right in my hand. But then again, i'm a girl. Besides that, nothing feels better then an all metal yoyo. Anyone who knows me on the forum, knows that I am a true M1 addict and since the M1 has been retired, my new love is for the Dingo. And yes, M1s & Dingos are very unforgiving but again, as Chris said...... it will force you to become a better player. It has certainly made me a lot better .......I have a YYJ X-Convict w/ KK bearing sitting in my case that I rarely ever use anymore because I truly believe that One Drop YoYos are much smoother and quieter. Anyway, hope this helps. Just ask yourself this..... a) do i want a full size throw or pocket throw and b) do i want to spend an extra $15 for kk bearings. I know you wanted an opinion on these two throws but if you wanted a bigger throw then the dingo, why not go with a One Drop Project or P2? They are awesome! I have one of each myself.

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
i say this regrettably, but the Dingo just isnt a full time yoyo for me. I LOVE mine, but i couldnt play it all the time. its great to go to and throw around, as all minis are (i drive a mini cooper s ), but my hands are just too big to throw a dingo seriously. that doesnt mean its not capable. i can do anything on a dingo that i can on a Sky Walker, Dark Magic, or M1, but the full time feeling just isnt there for me i agree on the no need for a KK though

It's just a fun Pocket YoYo. It's just a fun little throw that you can stuff in your pocket and take it on the go. I haven't been able to stop playing with mine though.

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
Few things to consider, where are you in yo-yoing? Are you learning slacks and pops or can you do them easily? The dingo is meant to be a pocket yo-yo for play on the go, not really a learn on me yo-yo. It does help your throw and tricks, but I had learned and refined before I got into mini yos. It is a very unforgiving yo-yo. However on the other end is the DM. It's full sized and doesn't require a lot of correction. It may take some getting used to a smaller gap but it won't stop any player at all from using it well right out of the box(course I recommend replacing the bearing). If learning, go with the DM. If advanced and need to refine, go with a Dingo. Both are good throws either way.

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
Lets see i have an M1 onedrop and I love it its my main yoyo.. .and a piece of Sh** lyn fury and i hate that..... lol but my skill level is.... based one what you think the expert part 1 and 2 on yoyoexpert.com so go take a look at those before you place me in a category.... so does this help judge a Dark Magic Or Dingo? I dont really want a "fun" yoyo either... but if the dingo is not a serious yoyo then,, idk but i mean... its not like i wont have both eventually... I'm just the exact image of a kid although i'm 14... I want the best NOW

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
i wouldnt get the dingo if you dont already have a main throw. its the best pocket yoyo there is but i wouldnt consider it a main throw to learn on or use in competition. i personally dont like the DM (never played it but its way too heavy and too big for me and i dont like the hybrid response)
if you have the money, and you want a main throw, you should get a Project or Project Two. the Project is in the store right now for the anniversary so if you want one get it fast before they are gone. the Project Two probably wont be in stock till January or February.

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
i love smaller yoyos/wheels. my shuriken was my main player and i have very big hands. i also grew up throwing fixed axle yoyos as a kid so a smaller gap doesn't bother me much. and i love konkaves. lately i've been throwing a dif with a flat bearing and i love it but i think (note key word here "think") it would play 10 times better if it had a konkave in it. i once put a flat bearing in my shuriken and it sucked so... if the dingo is anything close to shuriken in terms of play i will love it if i decide to get it or i might still wait for the sovereign. either way my next wheel/yoyo will be a one drop. oh yeah i learn most of my advanced tricks on a lyn fury. they are far from junk.

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
I love my dark magic, but I hardly ever carry it... looking forward to my Christmas Dingo, so I can't give exact advice on that either...
But I'm gonna agree with Zeke on this one. If you're looking for a "Main Throw", save an extra 50 bucks and get something that you'll WANT to take with you everywhere.
P2 is a good choice, or the Project currently available. CLYW is my other favourite brand, and the Wooly Marmot is like the "more pocket friendly" edition of the Peak. Excellent yoyo. Course... the Peak is one of my main throws as well.
And SPYY is releasing the Punchline in the next few weeks, and hot damn, is that ever the most fun you can have with 61 grams.
Just my 2 cents, but be warned: YYJ Dark Magics, while great, have a tendency to crack at the nipple. (seen 3 DM's, seen 2 cracked nipples.)

 Re: Dingo-OR-Dark Magic
Ok, I highly recommend you get an Atmosphere. Even though they are pretty heavy they play great for a $40 yoyo. I enjoy them much more then the DM. But, if it were my decision, look on the BST (Buy/Sell/Trade) forums on YYN or theyo. You can find some great deals there or just save up for a SKYY Chaser or a P2. Both are great throws. Hope that helped.
