Re: NEW TUTORIAL FORMAT: Binding Part I
Wow this is going to make it a ton easier on the beginners I love the new style of tuts. This what a real tut should be like. Cant wait to get into the higher difficulty stuff. Keep up the great work Brett.

The front-style bind from the half mount you did at 3:18 is in my opinion the easiest of all the binds. If you are really trying to help out beginners I would have focused on that one. Even in side-style play you can just turn one way or the other and preform the front-style bind. Nice though.

Re: NEW TUTORIAL FORMAT: Binding Part I
I think beginners would also like to know what exactly happens when you do a bind. Why yo-yo comes back up etc. When i was learning to do the bind it was very helpful to just do the front-style bind and slowly lower the string into the gap. That way you can get the sense of when the yo-yo starts to bind and stuff like that.

I think a way to do this would be to use a Cosmo or a 3YO3
I think the harder part for me wasnt learning the bind but putting it into the end of a trick smoothly

I think it's not necessary to switch from thumb to index while doing the backspin bind. Just leave your thumb in there. Works the same way but looks a lot smoother and more fluent.
Oh and by the way, a "normal frontstyle bind" actually is a backspin bind. There's no technical difference.
nice tutorial but i agree that you should focus on the front style backspin bind for an intro to binding tutorial. thats the easiest for beginners to learn.
personal i hate the side style backspin bind. it almost always ends up catching on my next throw and i dont find it reliable at all. it also is an awkward motion for me to do and does not look smooth at all. i try to stay away from it as much as possible but when i do it i find it easier to use my middle finger instead of my thumb.

Personally I just use my middle finger to go into the mount instead of my thumb.
Although it seems whenever I play left handed I often accidentally use my thumb then have to do the switch.
